THERESA ERICKSON, ESQ.: I'm Theresa Erickson and I have created Erickson Law to help clients that are journeying into parenthood on their journey to becoming a surrogate or an egg donor. After being an egg donor several times and being involved in this field and seeing the medical side of it, I realized that there was not the sort of representation that families needed, whether the egg donor, the surrogate or the parents. I wanted to provide a compassioned approach to the legal side of it because the law can be daunting for many people. They have a difficult time understanding what the process is and they're scared.
Many people come to me and they're afraid that they're not going to be able to keep the child that they have created. That they are going to lose the child to another individual or lose the child when they return home to their country. So I really felt that it was important to utilize my experience as an attorney and utilize my experience of having been an egg donor to create a firm that can provide the compassionate and the legal side one-on-one.
